As you may be aware earlier, I had this goal of visiting as many museums or galleries in Singapore as I could in this year. Well, it’s nearing the end of the year now and I must say I did quite well in that aspect. Visiting museum/gallery has becomes one of my favourite things to do during free time on my weekends.

I got to spend the day at peace and in tranquility in these spaces and at the same time learnt a lot of new knowledges and history of Singapore. You would be surprised when I said that this small island nation actually has well over 50 museums and heritage galleries. Besides than heritage galleries, I also took time to visit some art galleries this year to check out some fascinating artworks that sparked my imagination and intrigued me to reflect and rethink on various areas.

Visiting these cultural/civic spaces are truly beneficial and not to mention that they are mostly air-conditioned indoor spaces which gives a perfect relief from the hot and humid weather on the outdoor. Some of these museum buildings feature beautiful architecture too to my liking and admiration. Without further ado, here below is the list of the museums and heritage/art galleries in Singapore that I have visited. I visited some of them in previous years and the list is not in any order;

I have visited 62 in total. I have not only gone past the 50-mark but also went beyond 60-mark. What a milestone! As can be observed from the list above, there are actually various different type of exhibitions these places deliver; national history, war history, cultural history and also history/background on different fields such as sports, civil bodies, city development, science, arts, design, sustainability, etc.

My top 10 museum picks are National Museum of Singapore, National Gallery Singapore, Asian Civilizations Museum, Indian Heritage Centre, Singapore Discovery Centre, ArtScience Museum, Battlebox, Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum, Peranakan Museum and MINT Museum of Toys. I’m certain that you would not have heard many in the list above. That’s me too before I went on online research to find out where else I could visit to work on my goal.

There are several other museums/galleries that I have yet to explore in Singapore; I will perhaps leave that in the future. That’s a wrap for my museum-hopping missions in 2024. My Facebook/Instagram profiles were filled with hundreds of images of my visit to these places.
